There are three types of NMOS license that can be used to unlock the built-in NMOS capabilities in HOME.

This topic describes, in simple terms, what each license provides.

For a more detailed technical explanation, please see HOME - NMOS Interfacing (in HOME's Technical Documentation).

NMOS Importer

The NMOS Importer (shown in pink below) is a functionality in HOME, which connects HOME to an NMOS Registration and Discovery Service (RDS). By connecting to an NMOS RDS, the importer can readout the RDS and import NMOS devices, and their senders and receivers, into HOME's inventory. This allows HOME to access NMOS devices within the same infrastructure, and enables operators to connect streams to and from NMOS gear, using the HOME UI or via connected northbound controllers.

The connection to an NMOS RDS incorporates methods specified via the latest NMOS IS-04 and NMOS IS-05 specifications.

The NMOS Importer requires 1x NMOS Importer license to become active. This license does not include the internal NMOS RDS.

NMOS Exporter

The NMOS Exporter (shown in pink below) is a functionality in HOME, which connects HOME to an NMOS Registration and Discovery Service (RDS) on the northbound side, to export HOME-native gear into an NMOS-controlled environment. In doing so, devices managed in HOME are exposed via NMOS IS-04 and controlled through NMOS IS-05. The NMOS Exporter translates between HOME and NMOS RDS.

The NMOS Exporter requires 1x NMOS Exporter license to become active. This license does not include any NMOS RDS functionality.

NMOS Proxy (for HOME on mc2 Gateserver only)

The NMOS Proxy (shown in pink below) is a functionality in HOME, which connects a single NMOS device to HOME, without needing to pass through an NMOS Registration and Discovery Service (RDS). In this way, a single NMOS device can be easily included within a setup, and flows can be routed to and from that device using NMOS IS-05 commands. The connection requires the device's IP address to be available.

1x NMOS Proxy license is required per device.

Please note: From HOME v4.0, on regular HOME systems (excluding HOME on Gateservers), the NMOS Proxy is replaced by the NMOS Importer plus a HOME Pass per device.
