This topic describes the requirements for the Lawo management network switch, the Waves SoundGrid audio network switch and the SFP (fitted to the console's MADI I/O port).

Please see Waves for mc² - System Setup for more information about how the system is cabled (for the final installation).

Lawo Management network switch (configuration)

In order for the Waves SoundGrid system and Lawo console to communicate, the Lawo management network switch must be configured with the following settings:

  • IGMP enable.
  • The default discovery mode is UDP-Multicasting between Lawo console and Waves SuperRack.
  • The handshake connection from/to the Lawo console and the Waves SuperRack happens on Multicast-IP 232.5.5.5, port 50001

Waves SoundGrid audio network switch (specification)

The DirectOut EXBOX.SG converter comes with an integrated network switch that can be used for the Waves SoundGrid audio network.

If you choose NOT to use the integrated switch, then a Waves supported switch must be used. Please follow the link below for a list of supported switched for Waves SoundGrid systems.

https://www.waves.com/support/network-switches-for-soundgrid-systems

Important: If the switch is not in the Waves supported switch list, then it needs to be properly configured (so as to permit the correct passage of audio packets).

SFP Specification (for the MADI I/O port)

Audio is transferred between the Lawo console and Waves SoundGrid server using MADI.

On the Lawo console side, any available MADI SFP I/O port can be used as long as the SFP meets the specification below.

Important: The Waves system has been tested with the following model of SFP (fitted to the console's Local I/O MADI port).
