The Timecode options set the timecode source and format for the timecode automation system.

Source

Sets the timecode source. There are four possibilities.

  • Internal – internal timecode.
  • MTC – external MIDI timecode (MTC) input.
  • LTC – external Linear timecode (LTC) input.
  • Machine – automation follows the active Sony 9-pin machine.

Format

If the timecode Source = Internal, then this option sets the frame rate. If the source is external, then the field displays the detected frame rate (from the incoming signal).

Note that the frame rate affects the amount of channel delay when delay time is adjusted in frames. For example, if the format is set 25 fps, then delay time for 1 frame = 40ms (1/25s).

The possible options are as follows.

  • 24 frames per second - Film.
  • 25 frames per second - EBU (PAL or SECAM).
  • 30 drop-frame timecode - NTSC color TV.
  • 30 frames per second – Monochrome.

Set System Clock

This button can be used to set the system clock to the current timecode value. This is a one-shot operation, similar to the Global → Date/Time → Set Internal Clock option (described earlier).
