mc²96 - Couple
The couple group provides a quick way to adjust parameters across multiple channels.
To create a couple, there are two possible methods: quick couple and COUPLE edit. Note that the quick couple method can be disabled by turning off the Direct Couple Enable option (under Fader/Joystick in the System Settings display).
Couple Group Conditions
- There is only ever one couple group – you cannot create multiple couples.
- The couple group links all channel parameters.
- The coupled channels can be of any channel type.
- When working with a couple group, faders are always moving.
- The master/slave behaviour varies depending on the parameter. See Control Group Behaviour.
- Whenever a channel is coupled, all other groups are temporarily suspended. This means that the couple can be used at any time and across all types of channels and groupings.
- Please take care when combining the Couple with other types of group. Offset values can wrap around and result in very loud volumes when adjusting the overall master!
Quick Couple
1. Press and hold the fader SEL buttons on two fader strips.
All channels within the selected range are added to the couple group (as indicated by the red fader SEL buttons).
2. Now adjust a parameter on any channel within the couple group (e.g. an EQ gain).
All EQ gains across the coupled channels are adjusted, and any offsets are retained.
3. To dissolve the couple, press an individual fader SEL button, or create a new quick couple range.
COUPLE Edit
This mode can be used to edit a couple group so that you can couple non-consecutive faders.
1. Select COUPLE from the centre section LINK buttons - the button flashes.
If a couple group already exists, then its members are indicated by red fader SEL buttons; all other fader SELs flash in green.
2. Press a green fader SEL to add a channel to the couple group.
3. Or, press a red fader SEL to remove a channel from the couple group.
You can add (or remove) all channels of a certain type by pressing the channel type buttons on the Access/Assign panel: INP, GRP, SUM, VCA, etc.
4. Once you are happy with the members of the group, press the COUPLE button again - it lights (steady state).
You can now adjust your parameters (as described above).
5. To dissolve the couple, press an individual fader SEL button, create a new quick couple range or press COUPLE again to re-enter the edit mode.
