mc²96 - Using the Console Keyboard
The console keyboard works the Central GUI. It is used primarily to edit the text fields, but can also change the SCREEN CONTROL display, make selections and adjust parameter values.
The keyboard is designed to be floating and positioned on top of the control surface when it is needed. It can be connected to the USB port in the centre section (above the PRODUCTION UPDATE button) or to one of the front buffer USB ports.
Keyboard Layout (English or German)
The keyboard is available in one of two layouts: either English (default) or German. The matching version must be selected using the Global → Keyboard Layout option (in the System Settings display).
Disabling the Keyboard
The console keyboard can be disabled to prevent accidental operation. To enable or disable the keyboard: press and hold the Fn button, and then press ON.
Editing Text Fields
To edit a text field, such as a snapshot name:
1. Left-click on the text field - either once to overwrite (as shown below), or twice to modify an existing name (a cursor will appear).
2. Type in the text.
You can use the left or right cursor keys to move the position of the cursor within the field.
3. Press ENTER to confirm. Or, to exit without making any changes, press ESC.
Copy & Paste
Once you have some text selected, right-click to access Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete, Select All and Insert Emoji.
Or, use the CTRL+C and CTRL+V keyboard shortcuts to copy and paste the selected text between fields.
Keyboard Shortcuts (Hot Keys)
Below is a summary of all the keyboard shortcuts (also known as "hot keys").
Global "Hot Keys"
- ALT + Cursor Left/Right - selects the next or previous display (in the same way as the Left/Right arrow keys beside the page menu).
- CTRL + 1 to 8 - selects a specific display (e.g. press CTRL+1 to open the Signal List).
- ALT + P - opens the page menu. From here, use the Left/Right/Up/Down cursor keys to make a selection, and press ENTER to confirm.
- TAB or SHIFT + TAB - changes the focus area of the SCREEN CONTROL display.
- Cursor Up/Down - when a list is in focus, steps up or down the list entries. If a parameter value is in focus, press to increase or decrease the value.
- CTRL + C or CTRL + V - can be used to copy and paste the selected contents of a field.
Channel Config display
- CTRL + Cursor Left/Right - moves the selected audio module left or right within the channel signal path.
- CTRL + Cursor Up/Down - moves the selected audio module between the channel and direct output path.
Signal List display
- SHIFT + ENTER - enables the Auto-increment Next Label option for fast labelling of consecutive signals.
Cue List & Command Trigger displays
- ENTER or Backspace - step forwards or backwards to the next selection window.
- ESC - close the current window.
mxGUI only
- CTRL + Q - opens and closes the Access/Assign window.
