mc²36 - Fader User Button, Talkback to Channel
This function can be used to program a "talk to channel" fader user button. It can be used to talk to the channel assigned to the fader strip.Configuration
When active, the talkback source is routed onto one of 8 talkback buses. The talkback bus then feeds either the channel's N-1 return (for input channels) or the direct out (for groups, auxes and sums).
During the configuration, you can:
- decide whether talkback is permitted for different channel types. For example, to allow talkback to input channels but not to groups or sums.
- apply a talkback DIM value (to dim the console monitoring when the talkback user button is active).
- assign a different talkback bus (from 1 to 8) to talk to different sets of channels independently.
Note that the talkback buses appear in the Destinations side of the Signal List display (under the DSP Inputs directory.)
Configuration
- Define the Userbutton Index, Scribble and Color in the usual manner.
- Enter the signal address for the talkback source into the Talkback in usa field as follows:
- Open the Signal List display.
- Right-click on the talkback source and choose Copy Signal Address to Clipboard.
- Open the Custom Functions display.
- Add (or Edit) the Fader User Button, Talkback to Channel function.
- Right-click in the Talkback in usa field and select Paste.
- The next three options define the talkback permissions for each channel type.
For example, if you set Talk to N-1 Bus = Yes, Talk to GRP = No and Talk to SUM = No, then the user button can talk to an input channel (via its N-1) but not to a group or sum. - Use the Talkback DIM (dB) field to enter the amount of dim applied to the console’s monitoring when the user button is active.
- Use the Talkback Bus field to select one of the 8 available talkback buses.
This option is useful when programming multiple TALK buttons, as you can have each user button working with a different talkback bus.
