This document explains how UMD text and Red, Green, Yellow Tally is coded when sent to an evertz VIP.

The Tally information is derived from the UMD text ID. On the Evertz side, set the UMD Text field as following:

Mode = Protocol ID
Protocol ID = UMD ID
CODE

The different Tally Colours are sent as VGPIs as follows:

Red VGPI Number = UMD ID
Green VGPI Number = UMD ID + 1 * <Offset>
Yellow VGPI Number = UMD ID + 2 * <Offset>
CODE

The Offset’s default is 20. This may be changed by modifying the corresponding “VGPI-Offset” entry in the Connections section for this protocol.

On the Evertz side, set the tally fields to use the corresponding VGPI and remember to disable any default assignment to any physical GPIs.

The mode setting must be set to “static” – tally will not work if set to different values.

The IP Address and Port Number must be enabled and set using the serial administration port on the front of the evertz device.
