The following example shows a cross-point connection that connects two physical signals (“IN 2” and “Out 1”) via tie-lines (<TL 2>) as result of switching a virtual signal ({v Device 1 router 1}) to a physical output (“Out 1”), where the target signal (“Out 1”) is locally handled by two protocol ports and the source signal (“IN 2”) is located on a layer that has no local handler and therefore has to be delegated to another server.
