Power Core - Configure Licensed Options
When configuring Power Core, it is important that the configured options (in ON-Air Designer) do not exceed the available licenses (on the license dongle). Otherwise the Power Core alarm will sound.
This topic describes how to configure the main and add-on licenses.
Please note:
- The Power Core hardware revision and main license determine which add-on features are available.
- If the licensed resources are exceeded, then a warning message appears.
- Configurations are downwards compatible. i.e. If Power Core is running a Console XL main license, then a configuration with a lower specification (Console L, Console C, etc) will load.
Changing the Main License
The main license is defined when you create a new project. It is shown in magenta text (above the DONGLE cover) on the front of the 'System Core'. In the example below, the license is Console XL.

If you need to change the license later, then this can be done as follow.
1. Open the 'Change Frame' window using one of the following methods.
- Select Frame → Change Frame from the main menus.
- Click on the
Toolbar icon.

2. Under 'System Core' choose a different license package and select OK.
The project converts which takes a few seconds.
3. Once the conversion is complete, the front of the 'System Core' updates.
You can now configure the resources in the usual manner.
If the change lowers the specification of an existing configuration, then parameters are loaded to the available resources.
Enabling the Add-on Licenses
The Power Core hardware revision and main license package determine which add-on licenses are available. By default, all add-ons are disabled after creating a new project or upgrading the main license/hardware revision.
You can check or modify their status using the text acronyms on the DONGLE cover on the front of the 'System Core': magenta = license enabled; black = license disabled; text missing = license not supported or made invisible by ON-AIR Designer.

The licensed features are abbreviated as follows. Please follow the links for more information.
- AP = Aux Pan
- CA = Conference Assign
- RA+ = RAVENNA Plus (Power Core revision 3 only)
- LB = additional Loopbacks
- MM = additional Minimixer
- N-1 = additional N-1
In each case, right-click to make a change. The example below shows how to enable the additional N-1s.

The project converts which takes a few seconds.
Once the conversion is complete, the front of the 'System Core' updates and the new resources can be configured in the usual manner.
If the change lowers the specification of an existing configuration, then the parameters are still stored by the project file and can be reinstated by enabling the add-on.
Note that the GPIO add-on license (available for Power Core revision 1 and 2) is configured using the AddOn GPIO text above the front panel GPIO connector.

In this instance, double-click on the GPIO connector (on the front of the Core) to access the GPIO parameters.
