All of the following settings (in the Signal List) are saved in snapshots and productions: signal connections, user labels and signal parameters.

Before loading a snapshot you can choose to isolate individual signals (and/or global elements) so that they are not reset by snapshot loads. The Signal Isolate (and global ISO) states are saved in the production.

If you want to protect a destination crosspoint on a more comprehensive level, then a Protect Connect can be applied.

Managing Snapshot Loads

To control which signals, and signal elements, are reset by snapshots, you can use signal ISOs and/or global ISOs.

Signal ISO

The Signal Isolate option can be used to isolate an individual signal (on the source or destination side).

When a signal is isolated, this isolates all of the following: the signal connections, user labels and signal parameters (external and internal).

The ISO column (in the Source and Destination lists) shows the current state for each signal. A blue ISO icon appears if Isolate is enabled.

To enable (or disable) this option:

  1. Select one or more sources (or destinations).
  2. Right-click (to open the context menu) and choose Isolate.
  3. The ISO column updates accordingly.

Global ISOs

The following signal elements can be isolated, globally, using the Global ISO options (in the Snapshots display):

  • Connections = all connections.
  • Labels = all user labels.
  • I/O = all signal parameters.

The Global ISOs and signal ISOs can be combined as required.

Protecting Crosspoints

The Protect Connect option can be used to protect an individual crosspoint (on the destination side).

When a destination is protected, no changes to its connection can be made (from snapshots, productions or the Signal List itself).

The Connected Source field (in the Destinations list) shows if any protection states are active. If protection is enabled, then a padlock icon appears.

The protections states are not saved or loaded by productions, and so they are permanent (for all users). They can be cleared by disabling the Protect Connect options or performing a cold start.

To enable (or disable) this option:

  1. Select one or more destinations.
  2. Right-click (to open the context menu) and choose Protect Connect.
  3. A padlock appears in the Connected Source column (for all active protects).

Important: All user-defined Protect Connects are cleared after a system cold start.

If this is not desirable, then crosspoints can be protected (at a lower level) using system protects. These work in the same way but are system-defined and cannot be changed by the user. The main difference/advantage is that they form part of the cold start configuration, and so are reinstated (and not cleared) after a cold start. For more information about this option, please contact Lawo support.

Both types of protection ensure that, if either is active, no changes can be made to the connection.

In both cases, the following limitations apply:

  • If a surround format change occurs on a set of channels, then the protected state will be lost.
  • In Signal Mode, the connections for surround formats cannot be protected individually
