Update redundant A__UHD Cores safely
When upgrading A__UHD Cores that are part of a redundancy group, please follow the procedure below:
- The primary A__UHD Core should be active.
- Update the passive/backup A__UHD Core first.
- After successful update - turn off the backup/passive A__UHD Core.
Update the primary A__UHD Core
When primary comes back online, power up the backup/passive A__UHD Core again.
Using NodeSys Upgrader will handle this automatically - beware to enable automatic failovers in NodeSys Upgrader, once the upgrade is finished.
Updating A__UHD Cores and A__Line Devices
After updating NodeSys based devices, always perform a full power cycle of the devices afterwards.
Breaking Changes
There are no breaking changes or interdependencies since last release; however, the following combination has been QA-tested and is recommended: Release 10.10.2 with NodeSys 3.6.0 and HOME 2.2.0.
KICK
Release 10.10.2 requires KICK software version 2.2.0.1 or higher
LCU
There were some improvements made on the LCU proxy (HOME version 2.1.3) - For a seamless integration please use comimx_lcu-10-4-0-52 firmware included on the AP 10.8.2.1 release package
Ember+ and External Control Systems
The Ember Tree of MCX has received two new additions: Control Room Monitoring and Co-Mixer Matrix Nodes. If you have VSM or any other external control system connected to your MCX, please evaluate whether these changes may impact your project before upgrading.
Power Core Gateway
- Due to the implementation of Power Core Rev3, a backup of the crosspoints needs to be created. After the update the Power Core loses existing cross points and uses default connections, similar to what happens during a coldstart
- It is necessary to upload a converted config to the device, otherwise signals may be wrong or not available.
- Please note that source related Loudness gain parameters and settings available in On-Air designer and Web UI should not be used in production. They are experimental features only and will be licensable add-on.
- The maximum samples per frame for an outgoing stream is reduced to 64. If a higher value was previously configured, it will be reduced to 64 automatically.
- Due to the new logic engine of VisTool, projects needs to be recompiled and may report errors of non-connected logical states. These need to be set again.
New Features
MCX
Improve User Label Workflow
- Quick and Simple Label Editing: Editing labels is now quicker and straightforward
- Continuous Channel Label Editing: Users can now navigate and edit labels on multiple channels without leaving the keyboard.
- Independent Short and Long Label Editing: Users can edit short labels separately from long labels, optimizing speed and efficiency and avoiding accidental overwrites.
Redesign of Signal List Layout
To enhance usability and reduce confusion caused by horizontal scrolling, the signal list has been updated for better visibility and efficiency.
- No Horizontal Scrolling: The signal list now displays all information without needing horizontal scroll. Relevant details are visible at all times, ensuring critical information is easily accessible.
- Customizable View: Users can optionally hide information to streamline their view.
N-1 Overhaul
The N-1 (Mix Minus) overhaul brings essential updates for improved Aux assignments and overall performance. The following enhancements ensure more accurate and reliable operation:
- Stereo Input N-1 Assignment: Assigning Aux 1 to a stereo input now correctly assigns the Aux to both left and right channels.
- Stereo Aux N-1 Assignment: Assigning a stereo Aux as N-1 now properly assigns the left channel to the left and the right channel to the right, highlighting both Aux 1 and Aux 2 in the N-1 popup.
- Stereo Input Conference Issue: For a stereo input with a stereo Aux assigned as N-1, pressing Conference now correctly turns off Aux 1/2 from the input's aux sends.
- Mono to Stereo Aux Update: Changing an Aux from mono to stereo now properly updates the source signal when the Aux right-hand side is used as an N-1 assignment.
- Talk Function Fix: Activating Talk on a stereo input with different N-1 assignments for left and right now correctly talks to both Aux channels
- Effective Source Signal Display: The Effective Source signal name is now displayed in the Mix Minus Assign Pane.
Mini TFT Display Metering Update
The Mini TFT Display has been enhanced with updated metering graphics and overload indicators, ensuring that input levels are displayed with greater accuracy and clarity, closely aligning with the main meter displays.
- Metering Bar Graphic Update: The metering bar graphic now displays full input metering, similar to the main meters, and respects the values and scale
- Signal Overload Indicator: A red frame now appears around the main label in case of signal overload.
- Stereo and Surround Master VCA Channels: Stereo channels now show a single bar representing the highest of the left and right values; the same applies to Surround Master VCA channels, showing the maximum leg value.
Meter Bar Color and Customization Options
Customization options for the meter bar colors have been expanded, allowing users to choose between traditional and industry-standard color schemes. These settings provide greater flexibility and are easily accessible in the System Settings.
- Color Scheme Choice: Users can now choose between the traditional Lawo yellow/orange/red meter bar colors and the industry-standard green/orange/red color scheme.
- Single Color Scheme Option: Users can consolidate all meter bars to a single color scheme (e.g., green/orange/red), with spacing or other visual cues for differentiating between different formats.
- Customization Accessibility: These customization options are accessible within the System Settings under Bargraphs.
Input Metering and Gain Reduction Meters for SUR Masters
For SUR Masters, new input metering and gain reduction features have been added, offering better visibility of signal levels and dynamic processing, making it easier to monitor and control audio performance.
- Input Metering: Input metering is now available for SUR masters and is displayed on the small meter next to the label on the console surface displays.
- Gain Reduction Metering: Gain reduction metering has been introduced for all dynamic modules.
- Max Leg Value: Meter values are now shown as the maximum leg value.
Control Room Monitoring on the Ember-Tree
Control room monitoring is now available via Ember, offering two monitor outputs plus headphones with independent source selection, volume, cut, and dim controls. This enhancement provides comprehensive and flexible control over your monitoring environment directly through the Ember-Tree interface.
CoMixer Matrices on the Ember-Tree
Gain and mute controls for all inputs, outputs, and crosspoints are now exposed via the Ember-Tree. The crosspoints for each CoMixer signal are listed with their corresponding matrix column/row in the source/target signal list, allowing for detailed and precise signal management.
Strip Display Pop Window Timeout
We now offer the ability to customize the timeout duration for the popup window on the Channel Bay Displays, similar to the central GUI Module Popup window. This feature provides users with greater control over their assignment management.
Fader Control Mode Blink Speed
It is now possible to control the frequency of the flashing display when Fader Control is activated. The TFT displays will blink at a customizable speed, reflecting the values of the selected target.
Updated Custom Functions
Map Buttons Between User Panels
We have introduced a feature that allows the mapping of buttons between user panels, including a central button that switches monitoring buttons to display their corresponding buttons and label index. This enhances user interaction and accessibility across panels.
Central User Rotaries
The central user rotary now offers brightness and bulb control, as well as headphone control, providing users with more granular control over their environment on the mc² 36 mk II console.
Hard Mute
A new Hard Mute feature has been introduced, allowing for a fader user button mute that operates independently from the VCA master or the standard mute button. This ensures isolated control over muting functions.
NODESYS
Improvements of the A__UHD Core Streaming FPGA
The A__UHD Core Streaming FPGA now supports 8-channel, L24, 48 sample packet time streams across its full capacity, even when fully populated. All stream combinations have been thoroughly tested and confirmed to perform optimally on all connected channels. A new channel/packet time overview table is included in the revised datasheet for easy reference.
Web UI Dialogs for Login / Password Management
The Web UI for nodes running NodeSys firmware has been upgraded to include changeable passwords, enhancing security and user control. For UHD Core nodes, password updates are handled differently, requiring changes to be made through the serial port to ensure a secure process. To assist users with this feature, a quick guide is available directly within the Web UI, providing clear instructions on how to reset passwords. This guide automatically appears when users click the "Reset password" button, making the process straightforward. Additionally, new password quality rules have been implemented to ensure stronger security, including restrictions on using certain passwords to maintain system integrity.
New Passwords must be:
- At least 8 characters in total
- At least 1 number
- At least one lowercase character
- At least one uppercase character
- At least one non-alpha-numeric or "special" character
HTTPS
Our new software now utilizes HTTPS to ensure secure communication between users and our Web UI. This implementation enhances data protection by encrypting the information exchanged, thereby preventing unauthorized access and tampering.
Understanding the Browser Warning
When accessing the software via a private IP address, users may encounter a browser warning about an "unknown certificate." This occurs because the certificate used for HTTPS is self-signed and not issued by a recognized Certificate Authority (CA). In an internal network with private IP addresses, using self-signed certificates is a common practice for ensuring secure communications without the need for public CA certificates.
Why HTTPS and TLS Are now Enabled
- HTTPS (HyperText Transfer Protocol Secure) adds a layer of security over the standard HTTP protocol by encrypting data. This is achieved through TLS (Transport Layer Security), which protects data integrity and confidentiality between the user's browser and the server.
- TLS ensures that any data transmitted is encrypted, preventing eavesdropping and man-in-the-middle attacks.
No Risk in a Closed Network
Using a self-signed certificate within a controlled, closed network with known devices poses no security risk. This setup is standard for internal systems where:
- All devices and users are trusted.
- Network access is restricted and monitored.
Reassurance to Users
We want to assure our users that the browser warning about the unknown certificate is a normal and expected behavior for self-signed certificates in such cases. This does not indicate any actual security threat. Instead, it signifies that the connection is encrypted and more secure than unprotected HTTP.
HOME
Validating Licensing for NMOS Importer/Exporter Functionality
Customers owning a perpetual license can now activate the feature by introducing the license to HOME. Alternatively, they can use credits to activate the feature on demand and for a scheduled timeframe. It is important to note that systems actively using the feature in the field can be upgraded, but an active license is required to make them operable after the upgrade. We recommend requesting a perpetual license or credits prior to the upgrade. To order a license, please ensure you have the system ID of the HOME system you are about to upgrade available.
C100 Proxy
We now offer the ability to use C100’s senders and receivers in Stream Routing. This feature has been highly requested for many projects where a UHD Core failover mechanism was implemented.
HOME Support for Active/Backup MGMT interface Bonding
It is now possible to implement cable redundancy without relying on stacking, MLAG, or vPC. This feature uses a single IP address on a single subnet, ensuring seamless failover and enhanced network resilience.
Mandatory NTP Configuration in HOME
Due to the addition of licensing services in HOME, it is now mandatory to configure NTP. Additionally, in systems with numerous components and devices, having a single time source is now considered best practice, as it simplifies debugging or investigation when checking logs. If NTP is not running, the licensing service may become out of sync with the HomeApps server and .edge devices.
APT Mirror Support
We now offer APT Mirror support to update the versions of Ubuntu 20.04 packages with the latest security updates in our customers’ offline environments. This initiative helps us meet the EBU R143 recommendation, ensuring that our systems adhere to the highest security standards.
Node-Sys-Upgrade – compliance with NodeSys 3.6.0
As NodeSys 3.6.0 provides the ability for customers to change the root password, a change has been made to the Node-Sys-Upgrade tool. Engineers can now enter the password in a prompt when performing an upgrade.
Important note: This method only applies if the same password has been set on all devices being upgraded using the tool
Update of Observability Services
Grafana has been updated from version 8.4.5 to 11.1.0. Prometheus has been upgraded from version 2.43.0 to 2.51.2.

mc²36 MKII
- Point-to-point mode for mc²36 MKII with directly connected NodeSys I/O needs manual configuration, but does not setup connections automatically.
- HOME does not handle mc²36 MKII as a single device, but as 4 single components (MCX, A__UHD Core, VMixer, Local I/O).
Breaking Changes History
BREAKING CHANGES: Version 10.6.0.x introduced breaking changes in bus routing
MCX: Stereo channels cannot be individually deselected in bus routing, hindering assignment to a Stereo Bus on individual Legs, L/R
BREAKING CHANGES: Version 10.4.0.x introduced breaking changes compared to previous versions
MCX Ember Provider: Remove trailing whitespaces from scribs/labels upon getValue.
MCX Ember Provider (applies from Release 10.4.0.9). Any external Ember+ connection will be disconnected upon production load. External controller will have to reconnect again. Will prevent flooding external controllers with Ember+ data.
BREAKING CHANGES: Version 10.2.4.x introduced breaking changes compared to previous versions
Ember Provider Channel metering is now using the Ember streaming format instead of int64.
Compressor and Expander Hold parameter has been removed from the Ember Provider, since it actually is not available in the system.
Physical GPIOs are no longer available in Command Trigger and Ember+ Provider of MCX, but may only be used using TCL. Physical GPIOs need to be connected to vGPIOs in Home, in order to use them in MCX.
The Aux Bus pickup point has been removed, previous Aux Bus pickups are automatically converted to Aux AF (after fader).
PRODUCTION / SNAPSHOT INCOMPATIBLITY: Release Version 10.2.0
Release 10.2.0 introduced incompatible hash-codes, resulting in newly created external device signals in the console, being incompatible with the ones being restored from productions and snapshots. Release version 10.2.2 is required, in order to properly load and restore production files coming from 10.0.2 and 10.0.0. This only affects native Home devices like A__line devices. External Tie-lines and Third-Party proxies are not affected by this. Productions created with 10.2.0 are not compatible with versions > 10.2.0 and need manual porting! If this is required please reach out to AP PL!
BREAKING CHANGES: Version 10.2.0.x introduced breaking changes compared to previous versions
Over Snap Incompatibility:
Over Snaps that have been created with 10.0.0 or 10.0.2 release versions are not compatible with 10.2.0 and will be discarded!
Over Snaps that have been created with 6.4.0 release versions are compatible and will be loaded.
Behaviour of receivers of A__UHD Core and A__line (NodeSys):
If one routes a source stream with fewer channels (S) than the receiver (R), then only the first S audio channels of the receiver will have signal.
If one routes a source stream with more channels (S) than the receiver (R), then only the R audio channels as specified by the receiver will be present.
Ember+ Provider:
The panning granularity of all DSP channels and GPCs has been changed to +-100. Depending on the implementation of an Ember+ consumer, this may break compatibility!
Output DSP gain parameter range has been changed from -128 ... 15 to -4096 ... 480 with factor 32 in order to be consistent with other gain parameters in the Ember+ tree.
BREAKING CHANGE: Version 10.0.2.6 introduced one breaking change about NATS Relay configuration!
If the system relies on NATS Relay on the A__UHD Core (the A__UHD Core forwards NATS messages from media networks to a Gateserver in the management network, this is e.g. mandatory for mc²36 MKII) you have to adapt your system by invoking the following command on the Gateserver:
rm -r /data/config/home
rm -r /data/config/nats/cluster.conf
touch /data/config/nats/leafnode.conf
BREAKING CHANGE: Version 10.0.2.5 introduced one breaking change in the Ember+ provider!
Output DSP gain parameter range has been changed from -128...15
to -4096...480

BREAKING CHANGES: Version 10.0.2.1 introduced breaking changes with respect to TCL configuration and Ember+ provider!
TCL Configuration File Locations:
Please be aware that from now on MCX expects its TCL configuration files in a different location. The location has been changed from /data/config
to /data/config/mcx
.
This change affects both physical systems, as well as mxGUIs with an externally mounted mxgui_config_share
and in the case of the latter it affects the configuration for each product type individually.
For physical systems and mxGUIs the new versions include a helper script migrateEarlyPhase2Config
(that can simply be invoked from CLI) to convert a set of configuration files to the new structure. In case of a physical system the script has to be executed once and then has to be followed by a reboot
of the system.
For mxGUIs multiple conversions can be performed subsequently by passing an explitcit base path as the one and only argument to the conversion script.
Please note, that further custom configuration files (such as Mackie HUI or special custom configs) might need to be adapted manually!
Ember+ Provider:
In the signal's 'labels' node, the identifier changes from 'userLabel' to 'user'. /signals/{sources,targets}/<signalId>/labels/userLabel
becomes .../user
. Furthermore, there have been added more parameters in this node (namely 'userShort', 'startupShort', 'inheritShort'), making use of a new schema 'com.lawo.emberplus.labels.v1.0' instead of 'com.lawo.emberplus.signal.labels.v1.0'.
The AfV event identifiers have been changed from 'event1
' to 'event-1
' etc. /mixer/global/afv/eventX
becomes .../event-X
